How come the Church is so silent?

What is a bailout?

It's the government and its sponsored agencies determining that a certain company or companies cannot be allowed to file bankruptcy and/or collapse and it determines to make money (stolen, fiat money) available to those companies to avert their collapse.

AIG is one such company. They made some bad bets in the bond market and lost a ton of money. They were threatened with bankruptcy but lo and behold, the government stepped in and gave them $85 bln. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122156561931242905.html

Now, bear in mind, the government has no money of its own. In fact the government is running huge deficits. So where do they get the money you ask? They create it, the borrow it or tax it to the people. In a nutshell, the taxpayer is paying for it.

Some companies do not get bailed out, like Lehman Bros. They failed and filed bankruptcy.

Today, the BIG 3 automakers, Ford, GM and Chrysler are all waiting hat in hand, for a lifeline from the government. How did they get to this point? Let's see, poor sales, high costs, burdensome pensions and healthcare liabilities. Again, bad bets. It's likely that they will get a bailout though, some way or another. There's no way our big 'ol government will let these 3 pillars of American Manufacturing go to bankruptcy.

Stolen money, lies galore....and where is the Church? SILENT.....

We heard the church loud and clear against abortion (or should I say killing fetuses, not Iraqi's), against homosexual marriage and rightly so, but why not against stealing money? Why not against diluting and debasing currency?
There are more verses against debasing currency than there are against abortion and homosexuality combined!

Just a sampling:

Lev 19:16: Use honest scales and honest weights, an honest ephah and an honest hin. I am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt.
Leviticus 19:35: Do not use dishonest standards when measuring length, weight or quantity. Use honest scales and honest weights, an honest ephah and an honest hin. I am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt.
Deuteronomy: 25: 13: Do not have two differing measures in your bag – one heavy, one light. 14: Do not have two differing measures in your house – one large, one small. 15: You must have accurate weights and measures, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. 16: For the Lord your God detests anyone who does these things, anyone who deals dishonestly.
Proverbs 11:1 The Lord abhors dishonest scales, but accurate weights are his delight.
Proverbs 16:11: Honest scales and balances are from the Lord; all the weights in the bag are of his making.
Proverbs 20:10: Differing weights and measures – the Lord detests them both.
Amos 8:4-5: Hear this, you who trample the needy and do away with the poor of the land, saying, When will the New Moon be over that we may sell grain, and the Sabbath be ended that we may market wheat? Skimping the measure, boosting the price and cheating with dishonest scales, buying the poor with silver and the needy for a pair of sandals, selling even the sweepings with the wheat.
Hosea 12:7: The merchant uses dishonest scales, he loves to defraud.
Micah 6:10-11: Am I still to forget, O wicked house, your ill-gotten treasures and the short ephah, which is accursed? 11: Shall I acquit a man with dishonest scales, with a bag of false weights?

I'm still waiting for the church to get its act together regarding these issues. I want to see someone like Rick Warren speak out fervently against these bailouts, the actions of the federal reserve and injustice of the income tax.

I'd love to see PAt Robertson say something crazy like, "The federal reserve is illegal!"

Doubt that'll happen though.

Liberty's view of Government and Marriage....

Today I was listening to some “black conservatives” saying how they are so disgusted over how Newsweek had a picture of blacks in the “Jim Crow” era being denied basic services at “whites only” establishments. To their horror, Newsweek has the gall to compare that era to the denial of basic rights to homosexuals who want to marry.

Black “conservatives” are an interesting bunch. There are the neo-cons, the ones who look at Bush as their Idol and believe he can do know wrong. There are the paleo-cons, who want to go back to black nationalism and self-help as the way blacks should conduct themselves today. Then there are all those in between. I suppose that's the same everywhere.

I am neither and don't care to be either. I am extremely anti-state. I most readily identify with the anarcho-capitalist position. I also know those Jim Crow photos don't tell the whole story. There were plenty of successful black folks in those days, in spite of Jim Crow, who get virtually no coverage. There are some who would argue that Black folks where better off before the civil rights struggle than after. But, thats another discussion.

I got off the race-based politics, movements, and etc long ago. I now figure we all die someday, who cares how much melanin you've got in your skin. Eventually this world system will end and so will race based policies and politics. Kinda morbid, but really, think about it!
When I look at pictures like the one in the recent Newsweek magazine I think of the inherent evil of men and one of the most evil combinations in all of history, Hate Plus State.
Hate plus the power of the state is a leviathan. Jim Crow was the enactment of laws meant to separate the races AND keep black Americans at a level that appeared to be subservient to White Americans.

Even in the height of Jim Crow, Black Americans managed to have enormous success. Look at the stories of Madame C.J. Walker, S.B. Fuller, John H. Johnson as well as countless others.
Without the power of the State, hate has a check on its ability. Without it, things like Jim Crow produced numerous anti-miscegenation laws against Blacks and Whites and other races intermarrying.

Now how could that be? If one person of one race and one person of another race want to get married who is the government to say they can't get married? I know who, a person or persons who with racist attitudes and with the power to make racist laws says so.

I know that there will be some racist folks who will only want to deal with others of their own race. However, without the power of the state, that would severely limit their success.
Rightly so, these and other Jim Crow laws where shot down by the Supreme Court. They should have gone another step further and gotten government out of marriage all together!

Now two men and/or two women want to get married, if some church wants to bless gay marriage, let them deal with the consequences.

Now, for the record, I myself do not agree with the lifestyle of homosexuality. I believe marriage is between one man and one woman. If anyone asks me, homosexuality is a sin among many sins. I cannot accept that lifestyle as a normal one and I have a right to feel that way. So do folks who think homosexual marriage is right.

Nevertheless, I still cannot expect the government to step in and force folks to recognize my marriage and others. I don't care if they do or don't. A truly free society does that on its own.
Marriage is a religious function. It is done in the church. Leave it at that.

I despise NeoCons!

A neocon:
Neoconservatism is a political philosophy that emerged in the United States. Its key distinction is in international affairs, where it espouses an interventionist approach that seeks to defend national interests.
The term neoconservative was originally used as a criticism against liberals who had "moved to the right".[1][2] Michael Harrington, a democratic socialist, coined the usage of neoconservative in a 1973 Dissent magazine article concerning welfare policy.[3] According to E. J. Dionne, the nascent neoconservatives were driven by "the notion that liberalism" had failed and "no longer knew what it was talking about."[4]

Hmm...Neocons believe in BIG government, Perpetual War, stealing money via taxation, ooh yucky....

What is a Conservative?

I think of myself as christian conservative, in the purest form of the word.

I believe Jesus is the son of God, and that He will return again.

I believe He died for mine and everyone's sins and anyone who believes that and lives it will end up being with Him for eternity.

I believe in extremely limited government.

I believe true money is Gold and Silver.

I believe abortion is murder.

I do not agree with homosexual marriage.

I believe unprovoked, "strike first" war is murder.

I believe unauthorized taxation is STEALING.

I want the Income Tax abolished.

Libertarian Geneses

Genesis of a libertarian....
Probably started around 2003 with the commencing of the Iraq War.

I was a registered Democrat, but was already beginning to question the Democratic party platform and turning toward the Republican party platform.

I, for the life of me, could not understand why we were going to war against a country that was no threat to us and had nothing to do with 9/11. I watched in disbelief as our president, Secretary of State, and others steadily told us that Iraq was ready to attack us at any time. I asked myself many times, “How could this be?

I thought to myself, "We control most of their airspace and we still have a presence in the Persian Gulf, how can they possibly attack us?" But no, no sense of reason found anywhere!

Even my My church was strangely silent on this issue. Virtually nothing was being said regarding this outright lie being perpetrated on myself and other Americans with any degree of sense. I thought to myself that it could possibly be the biggest lie ever. Was I in the Matrix? Is this Bizarro World? How come no one else thought this way?

Fast forward to the 2004 presidential elections. All around me, in “evangelical christian” circles all I heard about was abortion and homosexual marriage. Can the government solve the moral problems of our day? I knew this was impossible. But yet, all I heard in Christian Conservative NeoCon cirles was, “We need a marriage amendment!” I myself did not agree with abortion or homosexual marriage, but what about this Iraq War? What about practical solutions to today's problems? Again, silence.....

Therefore, I gave up politics after the 2004 election. I felt disenfranchised. No one to vote for...
Now, he we are at the 2008 election season. Ho hum..another predictable election season. One fateful evening, I happened to be watching the Republican debates and there he was, Ron Paul!
He was talking about sound money ( I was just beginning to understand the destructive nature of the fed). The Gold Standard, the Constitution. States rights.
He was the only Republican running who was against the Iraq War.

He wanted to abolish the IRS and cut the federal government significantly. Was this guy perfect or what?
I started reading more and more about Dr. Paul. That brought me to lewrockwell.com. I was reading all kinds of libertarian articles. Wow! People basically writing exactly what I believed!
I researched Dr. Paul. I found out he was a libertarian. I read and read all I could about this belief in true liberty.

Fast forward to today. Though still libertarian, I now most likely relate to the anarcho-capitalist position.

I am now a full blooded libertarian. Always will be.
